Franco Rossi

Franco Rossi is one of the most respected and knowledgeable drum set teachers in Italy. He is an innovator, open to new ideas and techniques, while remaining connected to the rich traditions and evolving history of the instrument.

His teaching concept, ''musical teaching'', is personal, deep and complex. It's a long journey that combines technique with the art of the drums, and that technique is never an end in itself, but is there to provide a deeper connection with the joy of playing music. Franco, whose natural expression on the instrument is teaching, has over 30 years of experience as an educator, clinician and performer, including an extensive body of published drum set method books. His most important contribution to education is the founding of a network of music schools with branches throughout Italy. These institutions, Accademia Musica Moderna and the Franco Rossi Drum School provide a modern curriculum and teaching staff, second to none anywhere in the world. Franco's schools have produced some of Italy's most successful professional musicians.

His musical and artistic path began at the school of the famous drum instructor Enrico Lucchini. Then, in 1985, he opened Accademia Musica Moderna in Milan and began to present clinics by international drum set artists, such as Giulio Capiozzo, Billy Cobham, Dom Famularo, Tommy Campbell, David Garibaldi and Skip Hadden. Accademia Musica Moderna's reputation as THE place to learn drums began to grow and spread throughout Italy, and eventually expanded to the opening of the Franco Rossi Drum School.

Franco’s innovative teaching methodology is included in the prestigious Teaching and Music Encyclopedia published by the Cité de la Musique, a part of the National French Conservatory. He's also a teaching consultant for Italy's best known drum magazine, Drum Club, as well as an in-demand clinician offering a presentation that appeals to both beginners and professionals.
