Chris Sutherland, Scott Atkins at Winnipeg Drum Talk Festival

On Sunday, March 8th 2009, a large collection of drummers, drum enthusiasts and local musicians gathered in the Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain for the very first Winnipeg Drum Talk Festival, hosted by David Schneider & The Music Cellar. With a history of holding several smaller workshops in the Winnipeg area, David felt it was time open up the doors and present a full-on drumming festival for the community. With the support of local retailers, and sponsoring drum companies, the festival went off without a hitch and much success!

Canadian Winnipeg-based Sonor artist Chris Sutherland presented a clinic on Rock performance, studio and jingle work, and gave a lot of information to young aspiring drummers on how to practice, how to get the gig, and how to become a "drummer in demand".

Following Chris' performance, one lucky guy from the audience was chosen as the winner of a 3007 Maple 14" Snare from Chris' kit!

Chris also hosts a workshop entitled "The Working Drummer's Boot Camp" throughout the year and can be seen sitting at the helm of his Sonors when performing live with Kim Mitchell, and on the upcoming European Tour in April with Canadian Prog-Rocker's "SAGA".

Other performers at the Winnipeg Drum Talk Festival included Scott Senior, Ben Reimer, Mitch Dorge, Dom Famularo and a surprise performance by Scott Atkins, Sonor Canada's Artist Relations and Product Manager.
