New York, NY – Legendary drummer Jack DeJohnette received a GRAMMY® Award in Best New Age Album category for his sublime recording, ‘Peace Time.’ This is DeJohnette’s first GRAMMY® win since the launch of his label, Golden Beams Productions, in 2005.

Golden Beams Productions was launched on April 26, 2005, with the simultaneous release of two singular projects: a stunning duet with the revered Gambian Kora player Foday Musa Suso called ‘Music from the Hearts of the Masters’ and a sublime recording for relaxation and meditation entitled ‘Music in the Key of Om,’ which was nominated for a GRAMMY® in 2006.

The two eclectic releases were followed by even more widely divergent albums: ‘Hybrids’ by The Ripple Effect, a collaborative project blending African jazz, reggae and dance music, featuring Foday Musa Suso, John Surman, Marlui Miranda, Big Al and Ben Surman;

‘The Elephant Sleeps But Still Remembers,’ a live set recorded at Seattle’s Earshot Festival with Bill Frisell; ‘Golden Beams Collected, Vol. 1,’ a collection of highlights from the Golden Beams label, including a never released duo track with the late Don Alias and a brand new remix of tracks from The Ripple Effect’s ‘Hybrids’ by DJ Logic; and ‘Peace Time.’

On April 7, 2009, Jack DeJohnette will release ‘Music We Are,’ an adventurous and remarkably harmonious trio project with John Patitucci and Danilo Perez, also on his Golden Beams Productions label. The album will be released with a bonus DVD, providing a rare look at the trio’s friendship, intimate working relationship, and their recording process. The DeJohnette/Patitucci/Perez trio will celebrate the release of ‘Music We Are’ with a week-long engagement at the Blue Note in New York, from April 14 – 19, 2009.

Jack DeJohnette’s wide-ranging style, capable of playing in any modern idiom while maintaining a well-defined voice, has kept him in demand as a drummer and as a bandleader, as well as a fan favorite. He is the winner of both DownBeat magazine and JazzTimes magazine’s Readers Polls for 2008 Drummer of the Year and Best Drums, respectively.
